About Smith Creek Fish Farm

Founded in 1993, Smith Creek Fish Farm has grown from a small, family-run hatchery into one of New York State’s trusted sources for pond supplies, live pond fish, and aquatic management services. What began as a passion project has blossomed into a 22-acre facility, driven by a deep commitment to environmental stewardship, quality aquaculture, and customer care.

As a New York State certified fish hatchery, we’ve spent over three decades perfecting our processes, expanding our offerings, and helping pond owners—from private homeowners to large-scale property managers—create and maintain thriving aquatic ecosystems.

Located just an hour’s drive from Buffalo or Rochester, NY, our facility includes:

• A 20,000 sq. ft. hatchery building
• A 1,000 sq. ft. greenhouse
• Thirty-nine aquaculture ponds

Live Fish & Aquatic Plants

• Game Fish: Triploid Grass Carp, Fathead Minnows, Trout, Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish, and more
• Garden Pond Favorites: Japanese Trapdoor Snails, Koi (raised on-site and available at hatchery-direct prices), and Pond Plants
• Aquaponics: Fish varieties suitable for growing aquaponic systems

All fish come with the 2025 New York State eight-point health certification. Please note: Buyers are responsible for all local laws and permits.
