The Yellow Perch (Perca Flavescens)

Yellow Perch
The yellow perch should be stocked in lakes and ponds where the water temperatures remain below 80 degrees year-round. Yellow perch feed on zooplankton, insects, snails, and other small fish.

It is considered prey rather than a predator and acts as the complementary prey species for Walleye in the same way you would stock bluegill with bass.  Although it does not achieve a large enough size to be considered a prize game fish, the yellow perch is most sought after for its excellent table fare.

The world record yellow perch (18 in (46 cm); 4 lb 3 oz (1.9 kg)) was caught in 1865 in New Jersey and is the longest-standing record for freshwater fish in North America.
