Is your shallow water pond aerator the missing piece?

If your pond is struggling with murky water, low oxygen, or algae buildup — the right aeration system makes all the difference.

The EasyPro Shallow Water Pond Aerator is purpose-built for ponds 7 feet deep or less — the depth range where standard diffused aerators are often overkill and surface aerators don't reach the bottom where oxygen is needed most. By pumping air from a shore-mounted compressor down to a diffuser plate on the pond floor, this system oxygenates from the bottom up, where it counts.

Choose the PA6SWN (single diffuser) for round or regularly shaped ponds up to 3/8 acre. Choose the PA8SWN (double diffuser) for long, narrow, or irregularly shaped ponds up to ¾ acre.

Is This Aerator Right for Your Pond?

Best for: This shallow water pond aerator works best in ponds under 7 feet deep | Up to ¾ acre | Standard 115V outlet

Ideal if: Your pond runs warm in summer, has low oxygen, or shows algae and muck buildup

Works year-round: Can be used for winter de-icing — keeps a vent hole open in ice to protect fish

⚠️ Not ideal for: Ponds deeper than 7 feet — see our diffused aeration systems for deeper water coverage

Why This System Works

The EasyPro shallow water pond aerator compressor sits on shore and pushes air through weighted tubing to a diffuser resting on the pond bottom. As air bubbles rise, they create a circulation lift that moves oxygen-depleted bottom water toward the surface — preventing the temperature and oxygen stratification that causes fish kills, odors, and algae blooms in summer. Running 24/7 costs only pennies per day at 60–70 watts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How deep of a pond can the EasyPro shallow water aerator handle?

This shallow water pond aerator is designed for ponds 7 feet deep or less. For ponds deeper than 7 feet, a rocking piston or rotary vane diffused aerator is a better fit.

How do I know if I need the PA6SWN or the PA8SWN for my pond?

The PA6SWN uses a single diffuser and covers round or regularly shaped ponds up to 3/8 acre with 50 ft of tubing. The PA8SWN adds a second diffuser and 100 ft of tubing, covering up to ¾ acre — better for long, narrow, or irregular-shaped ponds.

Can I run my pond aerator year-round including in winter?

Yes. These systems can be run year-round and are effective for winter de-icing — keeping a hole open in surface ice allows harmful gases to escape and protects overwintering fish.

How much electricity does a shallow pond aerator use?

At 60–70 watts on a standard 115V outlet, this system costs roughly $5–$7 per month running continuously — one of the most energy-efficient options available for ponds under ¾ acre.

What warranty comes with the EasyPro shallow water pond aerator?

3-year warranty on the compressor, 5-year warranty on tubing and diffusers.

How far from the pond can I place the compressor?

The compressor can be placed up to 50 ft (PA6SWN) or 100 ft (PA8SWN) from the pond's edge using the included quick-sink tubing. If your power source is farther away, additional tubing can be purchased separately.

Will this aerator help reduce algae and muck in my pond?

Yes. By continuously circulating water and delivering oxygen to the pond bottom, this system supports the beneficial bacteria that break down muck and organic debris. Improved oxygen levels also create conditions that are less favorable for algae growth. For faster muck reduction, pairing this aerator with a beneficial bacteria treatment is highly recommended.

Seasonal Operating Guide

Spring

Start your aerator as soon as ice melts — typically March through April in most regions. Spring turnover, when cold bottom water mixes with warming surface water, can cause sudden oxygen crashes. Running your aerator through this transition protects fish and jumpstarts beneficial bacteria activity after winter.

Summer

Summer is when aeration matters most. Warm water holds less oxygen, and shallow ponds are especially vulnerable to oxygen depletion on hot, humid nights. Run your aerator 24/7 through June, July, and August. If you notice fish gasping at the surface in early morning, that is a sign of overnight oxygen depletion — increase aeration immediately.

Fall

Keep the aerator running through fall as leaves and organic debris accumulate. Decomposing material consumes oxygen and builds muck on the pond bottom. Aeration supports the bacteria that break this down before winter sets in. Continue running until surface ice forms.

Winter

Move the diffuser toward the edge to a few feet in depth, this keeps a pocket of warmer water near the bottom for overwintering fish while maintaining an open hole in the ice for gas exchange. Do not shut the aerator off mid-winter once ice has formed around it, as this can cause the ice to shift and damage the tubing.

Installation Overview

The EasyPro shallow water pond aerator installs in under an hour with no special tools required. Place the compressor cabinet on shore within reach of a standard 115V outdoor outlet , elevate it slightly off the ground to prevent moisture buildup. Run the quick-sink tubing from the compressor out to the deepest part of your pond and allow the weighted diffuser plate to settle on the bottom. The tubing sinks on its own within minutes. For best results, position the diffuser at the deepest point of the pond to maximize circulation throughout the entire water column.

For ponds with an irregular shape or a long narrow layout, the PA8SWN dual diffuser system allows you to position two diffusers at separate points, ensuring full coverage across the pond floor.
